This shabby chic family home makes a perfect destination to come and learn new skills all around my kitchen table. Workshops include refreshments, home-made treats and some include a light lunch served in front of a roaring fire. With a max of four students (Feb pasta class there are more), you can be assured of a friendly, informative class which will increase your confidence, skills and you will leave with a big bag of goodies that you have created.
If you can’t make any of the dates contact me, I can also offer bespoke classes at no extra cost eg a birthday gathering, friends or special ideas. I love teaching and am here to help.
Dorking station is a 10 min drive away and courses will include a lift to and from the station if that is your mode of travel. Trains run from Waterloo and Victoria and take approx. 55 mins.

Browse through the workshops I offer. If there is no date, then contact me and we will try and arrange one. Bread-making classes are planned to introduce you to aspects of bread-making, end timings can be dependant on the temperature of the room which affect proving times and pace of the class.
Cook together workshops
Let’s bring people together and cook. On the 3rd Monday of every month there will be cook together sessions held at Ruth’s Little Kitchen, Brockham. The objective is to bring people together local people who may be alone, want to gain more cooking skills or simply want to cook together. Dishes to be cooked will be led by the group and the cost will be £15 for two hours ingredients are included and there will be something to take home so please take tubberware! Tea/coffee and biscuits included.

Learn to Food Styling like a pro! - £55
If you want to be able to create beautiful images for your Instagram feed and improve your creative output, this is the workshop for you.
The aim of the session is to help you find your own style and is designed to cover some of the basics of food styling, helping you to develop your skill and gain confidence.
Using different back drops and backgrounds you'll be shown how to incorporate different bits and bobs you would find generally around the house. You will also be given tips and a demonstration on how to create your own backdrop.
We will then upload some of the shots to Instagram using a filter app as well as the built - in app on Instagram.
This isn’t a one size fits all session, everyone is different and everyone has a different eye for styling, your creativity is your own! Tea/coffee and a soup and bread provided. The course will run from 10 - 2. For more details please contact me.
Introduction to Sourdough - £150 - 7 March 2020 £150 (2 places)
This is an extremely busy workshop, so get ready to learn all about making a starter, creating a white sourdough, a 100% rye, crackers, pain rustique, focaccia and we may even squeeze in a challah. The day will start at 10 am and end at around 4pm and will include tea/coffee and a light lunch. You will leave with a big bag of bread, a small bag of rye flour and your starter, all ready to take your baking to the next level.
Introduction to bread-making - £90 - 22nd February (2 places)
This is the class that started off my love of baking. Come and learn the joy pf making real bread in a small hands-on class with an award wining baker and qualified teacher. We will cover kneading, shaping and baking, the science of bread making and the endless possibilities. Every class includes all ingredients, tea/coffee and a light lunch. You will leave with a bag of bread and I hope a big smile! The day will start at 10.30am and finish around 2.30pm (This does depend of temperature of the day which affects proving time!). Classes include a light lunch of home-made soup, bread and cheese, teas/coffee and of course, all ingredients.
Pasta Making - £70 - 9th May
Roll your sleeves up, aprons on and get ready to have lots of fun and take your pasta making to the next level.
Suitable for anyone who is enthusiastic and wants to learn skills to impress!
Learn how to make two types of pasta and 3 styles of pasta.
Pasta Ripiena- stuffed Ravioli
Using 00 flour and eggs, filled with a seasonal vegetarian filling.
A ridged tubed pasta made on a garganelli board
Using 00 flour and fresh eggs
A short oval shape said to resemble a pea pod, made from semolina and water.
The day will start at 10am and finish at 1.30pm. There will be max 8 in this class. Price includes all ingredients, teas/coffee, homemade biscuits and soup at the end of the class.

The RLK Pasta workshop for children - £40-18th February 2020
Let's get the machines rolling and make our own! Together we will make Tagliatelle with a home made pesto and then some filled Tortellini. We will make some for children to try and they will also have some to take home to share with the family. Just like mama used to make! Session run from 9.30am -11.30 and 2-4pm. Classes include drinks and homemade biscuits and all ingredients. Please could students remember tupperware to take their pasta home in.
The RLK Little Bake-off - Afternoon Tea- £40-20th February 2020
Get ready to bake! This class is aimed at children 8 plus
Get ready to be busy bakers! We will shape and bake some Devonshire splits (and I will show you how to fill them), we will make a batch of scones and even make some delicious butter. At the end of the workshop you will take home everything. Sessions run from 9.30am -11.30 and 2-4pm. Classes include drinks and homemade biscuits and all ingredients.
GCSE Run through Session - From £30-21st February 2020
One to one tutor session with a qualified Food and Nutrition with a 100% pass rate. Length of session by arrangement.
Bagels and pretzels - £65 29th Feb (Sold Out)
Ever wondered how those supermarket bagels are so perfect - THEY are factory made! - come to the Little Kitchen HQ and learn how to make real ones with no additives and preservatives. In this class we will bake and shape, twist and turn and you will go home with increased knowledge and confidence to make these well-known breads.
The day will start at 10am and finish around 1pm and include a home-made snack, teas/coffee, all ingredients and a mug of soup to eat with your bakes at the end of the class. We can always adapt these times to suit depending on the group. This course uses egg and sesame, sorry I cannot offer substitutions.
Introduction to artisan bread - £90
In this class you will be adding ingredients to your basic breads to take them to the next level. You class may include: Baking a buttery brioche, creating a fabulous fougasse, fillng a fruity loaf and creating a delicious blue cheese and walnut loaf.
The class includes tea/coffee, homemade treats and a light lunch. You will take home a big bag of bread and recipes. All ages and abilities.
10am - around 2.30pm
Introduction to afternoon teas - £90
Mini Victoria sponge cakes, shortbread and fruit scones are all key elements of a traditional afternoon. Ruth’s Little Kitchen provides the ideal setting to learn some of these English traditions. 10am - around 2pm. (Elements may change)
Price includes: Tea/Coffee, a light lunch. You may also want to take the opportunity a complete the two-mile country walk, which takes in fabulous views of the North Downs and St Michael Church, which featured in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
A lift may be available from Dorking station which is roughly 55 min from either Victoria or Waterloo.

With a greater interest in gut health, high fibre foods and different grains this course has been designed to introduce you to spelt, a tear and share loaf with either Khorasan/Emmer and einkorn flatbreads. The day will start at 10am and finish around 1.30pm (This does depend of temperature of the day which affects proving time!). Classes include a light lunch of home-made soup, bread and cheese, teas/coffee and of course, all ingredients.
